Big Boy

Big Boy restaurant International LLC is a restaurant chain with its headquarters in Warren, Michigan. Its original name is Bob’s Pantry, which was founded by Bob Wian in 1936. It is one restaurant that sells burgers to consumers. One night in 1937, a customer required something different instead of a single-decker hamburger. Then Bob went to work and the first double-decker hamburger was born.

Later, Wian decided to change the restaurant name to Big Boy because of one of his loyal small fans. This fan was a six-year-old boy. He would often help Wian sweep up in exchange for a free burger. It is interesting and we know that Big Boy is a real person who is a fan of the restaurant and also a friend of Wian.

In 1987, the restaurant chain was purchased by the Elias Brothers who are one of the larger franchise operators. However, a fast food restaurant needs a new face when there is competition. At the same time, Elias Brothers did not operate well which caused the Big Boy restaurant bankruptcy in 2000. Following the bankruptcy, the investor Robert Liggett purchased Big Boy restaurant and renamed the company Big Boy Restaurant International and kept the headquarters in Warren. Robert Liggett has redesigned the menu and layout of the restaurant. The change is a key to be successful. Nowadays, there are 126 Big Boy restaurants in the United States.

Big Boy is best known for its trademark chubby boy in red-and-white checkered overalls holding a big boy sandwich. The most famous sandwich order is still its signature double cheeseburger and fries. There are four different choices, which are Classic Big Boy, California Big Boy, OHIO Big Boy, and Super Big Boy. In order to meet customers’ needs, Big Boy also offers sweet desserts, such as ice cream shakes and root beer floats.
